In the past week, I have accomplished two culinary feats.
The first was a pumpkin cheesecake. I can't recall where I got the recipe from. It was quite delicious. However, there are a few things that I am going to tweak if I make it again. For one, I will reduce the cream cheese some as the cheesecake was a little bit too moist for my liking. Also, I think I will bake the crust for less time than the recipe says to. I found that after baking it with the filling and the topping (a total of three baking times) it was too hard and proves to be a challenge when getting a piece from the pan.
While making the pumpkin cheesecake, I discovered a flaw in my spring-form pan. I have found that it is almost impossible to put the pan back together by myself after taking it apart to get a slice out.
The second feat was waffles. I know, such a simple thing to make. However, I've never actually made them myself. The major accomplishment within making the waffles was the beating of the eggs. I have beaten them before, but this is the first time I have been able to beat them all the way. Normally, I need help as my arms hurt too much for me too finish as it is quite hard to do (I guess Just Dance 2 is paying off).
We had the waffles with Gene's cased sausage for dinner tonight. They were quite delicious. I had mine with my usual applesauce and cream. Mom had the same and Dad had the stereotypical butter and maple syrup.
Well, I'm off to eat a piece of my cheesecake. Yum! :)
MMMMM!! Waffles for dinner! I didn't even know I wanted them until you said it! I know what we're having for dinner tomorrow! (but with the correct toppings- strawberries and ice cream, of course!)
ReplyDeleteMmm... Strawberries and ice cream on waffles is really good too. We don't have either one though so I'm out of luck.
